Message from the Chair

Welcome to the website of the Comité consultatif de lutte contre la pauvreté et l’exclusion sociale.

The role of the Comité is to provide the Minister responsible for applying the "Act to combat poverty and social exclusion" with advice regarding the planning, implementation and evaluation of actions taken within the scope of the National Strategy to Combat Poverty and Social Exclusion. Building on its active involvement ever since its creation, the Comité hopes that its efforts contribute to the objective of making Québec a fairer, more egalitarian society.

Over the coming years, the Comité plans to focus primarily on the following areas:

increasing the income of individuals and families who are struggling with poverty
social assistance programs
effective application of economic and social rights
combating biases related to the social status of people affected by poverty and mobilizing all stakeholders

In carrying out its work, the Comité consults with, solicits opinions from, and receives and hears requests and suggestions from persons, bodies, organizations and associations in relation to any matter concerning poverty or social exclusion.

I am proud to be part of a team of 17 women and men from various sectors representative of civil society, who come from a number of regions of Québec. I am truly enthusiastic about chairing a committee made up of committed people who believe in the importance of combating poverty.
